well..it's been a very interesting 24 hours. i can't make this very long because i'm in accra right now, and i only have 13 minutes left on the internet, aah!
so..last night i had dinner at the dutchman's house. His name is Don and his wife is Philo, and like i think i said before, she is njambe-goddess-beautiful. they are a really cute couple, and we had dinner with them and a couple from belgium--apparently they work separately from Don (Don runs all the Tongu Fruit pineapple stuff, from the factories to the farms), but they are basically botanists who manipualte the pineapple plants (and different flowers now, too) to make new breeds and better plants, and they have 40 ghanian women working under them to produce lots and lots of new breeds of plants. it's really cool, and they are david and elka, and they're so nice and cute. they're here for three years, and then i guess they go back to belgium, but you can't really do tropical agriculture stuff there, so i bet they'll go someplace else like venezuela or madagascar or something. anyway..they were fun to talk to, and of course there was lots of wine (real red wine, from a bottle!!) and really great food (cheese, and french fries, and normal bread, and crawfish in a creole-y sauce with rice, and salad, and ice cream from a carton..ahhh so good). i think i was kind of tipsy when we left, but the food and company were so fabulous, and the house itself was absolutely gorgeous (past cisnero's, on the volta river, with a huge yard and high high ceilings and hot water and normal toilets!!). we got invited back, and i'm planning on going..it was the best night i've had here so far.
so today the girls and i came here to accra, but not before i hauled stuff back to ppag and we ate aggie's banku. it wasn't spicy or sour enough for me, but the girls loved it, which made me laugh..i'm getting used to ghanian food, haha! oh, i also did wash this morning, and that sucked, but i got through like 8 shirts, one pair of jeans, 4 bras, and 5 pairs of underwear in less than an hour and a half!!! maggie (who lives behind me) told me i looked like a master of washing, so that made me feel good.
so..we are in accra, and we ate pizza tonight, and it was really lovely. we are stahying in this really crappy awful hotel, and i think we're leaving it tomorrow to find a better one, haha. tomorrow we go to the beach, and tonight (in just a few minutes) we're going to a party, so that should be interesting. and i forgot my camera because i'm an idiot, but i'll take notes or something. anyway..i have to go, but i hope you are all having a total blast, and that you have a lovely weekend. i love you all a lot, and i'll talk to you soon!!
