Today was another fairly boring day…I didn’t do much in the office except looking over all my health stuff one more time (before I print it all next week) and helping Persis type a screenplay written by a YCC member. I actually typed most of it, because I’m a much faster typist than Persis and Odette, and so now my wrist is kind of sore.

My boy volunteer came back today to see if John was there so we could talk stuff over with him, but he had not (and has not, as far as I know) returned from Accra yet. So..oh well.

Tomorrow I think I might go to the Health Farm, which everyone has told me I have to go to. Either that or do wash, but probably not wash because I hate it. The Health Farm has everything from raquetball courts to massages and a spa, so we’ll see what’s there and if I can afford anything. And then Emmanuel is taking me on his tour tomorrow, and then at 7:30 I have choir practice again, which should be interesting again. So..tomorrow will be a busy day no matter what I do.

Today I ate at the rice-and-spaghetti “chop shop” next door, even though I had spaghetti in my room, because I figured it would be interesting, and it was. It was good though, and now I’m awaiting lovely spaghetti dinner a second time around at my room.

I also bought stuff today, namely chocolate milk, juice, and a book. But the juice is in juiceboxes, which is totally more convenient and cheaper, and I’m excited about those! I also found orange juice, which is phenomenal, although I haven’t tried it yet. I did try a lemonade juice box, and it was warm and very sour and not that good, haha, but it was something to drink I guess. And the book I got is a book of children’s stories, but it’s all in Ewe. But the pictures are really cool, and show things like a pig standing up wearing traditional dress (a toga-like thing) and balancing books on its head, haha, so that’s great.

I haven’t mentioned this at all, but I’d like you all to know that I have really terrible mosquito bites, including 19 (more like 22 or 23 now) on one foot, and I can’t count the other very well because my knee doesn’t let me bend it the right way to see. But yeah..they’re bad and I finally gave in last night and followed mom’s advice and took a benadryl before bed so I could sleep without waking up itching all over. I also have some choice bites on places like my hip, right under my armpit where bras rub it to death, and in the middle of my stomach. So that’s always fun…it’s from all this awful rain. But at least it’s sunny now, and I won’t get malaria, and the bugs are not as bad as they were a couple of days ago.

Hmmm, what else? I think that’s all here. It’s going to be a busy weekend, but it should be fun. I miss all you crazy kids and I hope you’re having a rockfabulous summer. Oh, and I’m basically halfway through my time here..so in the spirit of Beckwith, calls from Aurora, and good car rides, here we go:

Tommy used to work on the docks
Unions been on strike
Hes down on his luck...its tough, so tough
Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man, she brings home her pay
For love - oooh, for love

She says we’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
It doesnt make a difference
If we make it or not
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot
For love - well give it a shot

Whooah, we’re half way there
Woooah! Livin on a prayer
Take my hand and well make it - I swear
Woooah! Livin on a prayer

Tommys got his six string in hock
Now he’s holding in what he used
To make it talk - so tough, oooh, its tough
Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers baby its okay, someday

We’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
cause it doesn’t make a difference
If we make it or not
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot
For love - well give it a shot

Whooah, we’re half way there
Woooah! Livin on a prayer
Take my hand and well make it - I swear
Woooah! Livin on a prayer

(livin on a prayer!!)

(hot guitar solo)

We’ve got to hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when its all that you’ve got

(At this point everyone should swoon over the boys on the ping pong table)

Whooah, we’re half way there
Woooah! Livin on a prayer
Take my hand, and we’ll make it I swear
Wooooah! Livin on a prayer!…

Oh man, what a great song. I miss you Beckwith kids. Hope you are continuing the Livin on a Prayer tradition. If you’re not I’m going to have to hit you all in the face. Love you though!
