Lunch with Charlene, and Lady Rachael Writes! =D

Apr 22, 2008 21:04

Been a really good day today. ^_^

So good, I couldn't believe it. =P

First, I got into work extra early. =)

Dunno why, just seemed to be ahead of time.

Then, rather annoyingly, there were no articles to sub until two came along at once at 12:30

So what did I do from 9:00am-12:30....=P searched desperately for work to do. Couldn't believe how light the workload was! Did wrestle with a few screenshots, so did manage to keep myself busy...but hardly a taxing morning!

Then I figure I've gotta juggle subbing with mobizine and my anxious need to go to toilet....all around lunch time...but nope...got the subbing done, went to toilet, and Alex offered to do Mobizine, before ordering me off to have lunch with Charlene.

Some might know Charlene as Eidos PR Manager.
I know Charlene as an old Uni friend, and Facebook contact.
So, basically, I'm being paid 21k to hang out in the afternoon with an old Uni friend.
=P And it was almost all afternoon.
I got there 30 minutes late, and expected them to be half way through the main course, but they hadn't even ordered at that stage. ^_^.
Ended up back at the office at about 15:30pm, as it turned out.

I ended started speeding back to the office, eager to get some work done, but Guy called out after me, so I slowed and waited for Guy and Luke. "We don't get to do this that often you know," they explained, before entering into a discussion about earning stars in Super Mario Galaxy.

When I got back, I entertained emails for a few minutes, until finally, an article came through for subbing. =)

Starting at 16:30, I stayed an extra hour till 18:30 to sub it...which I didn't mind, as I genuinely felt I'd done hardly any work all day. It was such an easy-going day!
To be honest though, two hours on one article, is probably taking too long...I feel I probably need to speed up in Alex's eyes. But, there wasn't any deadline that I was aware of, so it was all cool. It was Luke's hand's on report of HAZE's multiplayer modes...it's a PS3 exclusive shoot-'em-up featuring two sides - one that's drugged up, and one that isn't. ^_^

Towards the end of the day Alex Coby was wooing over GTA IV screenshots, and invited me to have a look. I thought his point was the witty names on some of the buildings, but no, he was drooling over the graphics. "Doesn't that look fun to play?" he asked me, as I looked at some scenary that to me looked like a pre-rendered posed shot. "Y'know, I've never played a single GTA IV game before?"
"That's something we'll have to fix in the next few days!"

But honestly...;-), Guns? Cars? I'd rather play a japanese RPG. ^_^ Or something cute with hedgehogs. ^_^

But overall...a very easy going day.

And then guess what happens this evening!?!?
RACHAEL EMAILS.....! =D
OMG! ^_^
And she actually thanked me for complimenting her =)
Could this day get any better?

Hardly any work,
a all-expenses paid for meal, with an old Uni friend,
and an email from a beautiful lady I met on a bus last year. =)

All we need now, is an LJ comment from Elly, and it might be a perfect day. ;-) Teehee..

Speaking of which, during the move, I have found her CDs and Chocolate Moose lid envelope, I was supposed to send her for her birthday, years ago. =) So if you're reading Elly - send us your new address....^_^ and maybe finally, I'll post something! [The Post Office is a two minute walk from my flat, so I've no excuse this time. Lol. ;-) ].

Oh - crap - er, yeah - but just got an email saying Joey's had an asthma attack.
=P So it's not all lovely.

Ho hum.

Will try and get my computers set up, and then see if I can make progress on her work.

videogames journalism, friends, joey
