What do I have planned?
Okay, well, after the disaster that was Pangaea in London on Thursday, and train delays that were only less irritating thanks to beat-boxing and singing with a bunch of sixth-formers, at the station,
Friday night saw me go out in my home town of Swindon, to see local act BeatBullyz. I went to college with two of the band members Andrew(vocals/production), and Stuart(drums), so kinda knew them. Couldn't get any friends to go with me though!! =( Wayne = shattered from work. Mickey = couldn't get through on the mobile, and Marco....Marco said he was drumming with one of the bands. But when I got there - he was nowhere to be seen. I reckon he must have been gigging in another venue that night, and we got confused on the phone, and thought we were both talking about the same event/night.
After some so-so rock numbers, which I made a valiant effort to dance to, despite being the only one dancing at one stage, ^_^, the main act - Beat Bullies - took to the stage. As a DJ played some beats, the MC/Rapper demanded we all got close to the stage, and refused to start proceedings until everyone had moved forward. He then proceeded to warm up the crowd, before giving instructions that when Bully sang "Hold On..." we were all to join in on the subsequent line: "What is it that we are fighting for?"....a few practises, pantomine-style, and soon the crowd was warmed up, and ready for the set to begin. Big emphasis on dance, crowd-interaction, and each track was mixed into the next, so almost unrelenting. But what had been like a pub environment, became like a nightclub, as the dance floor was packed, local press took snaps, and a lady filmed proceedings as part of a promo she's making for them. Although the MC said she was from the BBC. ^_^
Prior to all that, it had been a slow day at the ToyShop - we still sold Toys, but slow because I had been tired from my trip to London on Thursday.
That said, am off to London again Saturday - for Play.com Live! A consumer videogames show. Also should be meeting journalist/presenter Paul Vale there at some point [ see the GamesNight Group on Facebook ] and also one of my old 'zine writers, Adam Fairclough. Then in the evening, Alan Francois / Karl's Imposter, is putting on a play at the Camden People's Theatre, and then it's off to Shakirah's masked birthday party. =P
I don't have a mask yet! Eeek! =P Am gonna quickly make a PDF file for a big smiley face, and stick it online, and then hope at some point in London tomorrow, I can find a Repro place to print it off at. ^_^
In other news, I came home from the toy shop to find a phone message. Anna - HR from Gamespot had phoned, and wanted me to call back to discuss something. =P Ooer! So will have to try and call her back Monday pronto - although may be difficult as I'm supposed to be at the ToyShop again on Monday, but will try to phone her before I set off to work, and again during my lunch break. But yeah - fingers crossed it's a job offer, but I don't know yet.
Finally, I love you.=) And I'm really enjoying come back from tiring evenings, checking my emails, and finding these little rays of light in my inbox. ^_^ So...thank you for emitting rays of light, and happy energy. =) I hope I can return such good vibes to yourself. ^_^
Is all well in Erica "I've hung out with Dance Gavin Dance" Young? ;-)
