...until school is finally over!! Yippee!!!! I found out that I passed all of my classes barring any unforeseen screwup from the school. Okay, maybe I should still be a little afraid. On top of that, this may be my best semester in a while because I could score a 3.4 G.P.A. which I haven't done since sophomore year. My brother is finally getting to play music in front of an audience. I hope it works out for him being that he is a walking depressed machine. I thought I was bad at his age and younger but jeez. So, maybe he'll be happy.

I saw two movies which kind of disappointed me. Sure, movies aren't the most important things in the world but it is great proof how people seem to have a huge lack of imagination nowadays. The two movies I am talking about are Van Helsing and Troy. Van Helsing showcased three great characters: Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula and the Wolfman. Now, you would think a great movie can be made from this but no, it was total crap. The plot blew, the acting sucked a fat one and there was absolutely no imagination put into it. However, most people love it because it had cool special effects. Whatever happened to liking a movie because it has an interesting plot or that it was full of creative ideas? The original movies and novels these characters came from were popular because they took you to a place no one has ever been to before and twisted your imagination of what goes bump in the night.

The other movie, Troy, was a little of a letdown for me for the same reason. Here is a powerful story that has existed for thousands years surrounded by myth and magic and Hollywood makes it into a purely historical piece. They leave out all of the magic which made it a special and fun story. Now, I did not know a whole lot about the story before seeing the movie and azarule filled me in on a lot but as I was watching it, I could tell that Hollywood had screwed with it.

Why does this happen? It's because people have lost their imagination. The vast majority of people want to see special effects in movies and are more interested in watching reality (I use this word loosely) shows like The Bachelor, The Simple Life, or The Real World which are not real at all instead of watching shows full of imagination and fantastic plots such as Angel, Farscape, and The Dead Zone. Van Helsing lacked plot because movie producers know that people don't care about that because people will go to see the special effects. Troy lost its magic because most people don't like to see magic because it isn't "real". This, I fully believe, is sad.
