Man, I hear you on #4 & all the commercialism. Good Grief, I want to enjoy Halloween and Thanksgiving without having Christmas stuff starting so early!
1. What is a favorite Christmas/Hanukah tradition of yours? One tradition is fairly new, only the last few years. I take a smiley photo with my family, and then we pose for a goofy one. The other tradition I love is pulling Christmas Crackers before our big meal, wearing the paper crowns, laughing about the little toy included, & reading the jokes that come with each one.
2. Do you listen to Christmas music while wrapping/bagging gifts? No. I do usually have the TV on in the background though!
3. How soon do you start playing holiday music? I don't. It's not that I dislike holiday music, but the hubby isn't the biggest fan. Not really our thing, I guess.
4. If you could change one thing about the holidays, what would it be?I don't want this to sound bad, because it's not. More of an inconvenience. My husband's parents got divorced when he was very young, as such, there are always two houses to visit for the holidays. It just makes for a VERY long day. Also, we have to alternate holidays as my family lives in Houston. For example,

1. What is a favorite Christmas/Hanukah tradition of yours? We don't put out many decorations, but the set of little fuzzy-felt-covered cardboard robins we pin over the bookcase are essential. They may be shabby but belonged to our parents, and as my eldest sister remembers them, we are talking 1940s at the latest...
2. Do you listen to Christmas music while wrapping/bagging gifts? Not as a set deliberate thing, but usually, yes. We do have a fair amount, most (but not all) of it classical or earlier (this is moi, folks:)
3. How soon do you start playing holiday music? Mid-December, when the radio starts (I have no idea how many versions of the Messiah I can listen to before I get sick of it, but I have never got there yet... on the other hand if I hear but two versions of Jingle Bell Rock muzak in the malls, that's two too many)
4. If you could change one thing about the holidays, what would it be? That as far as the shops are concerned, the Season starts in August. And that if they're running late.
They are the best - if getting very fragile, so we baby them :)
White Christmas is all very well where it's cold (and I admit, a winter scene does look more Christmassy, even if the origins of the day were in the unwintery Middle East) but fake winter wonderlands are pretty bad at the best of times - and an Aussie December is NOT that.

Having had to balance in-laws and family, I totally understand. Now it's just the two of us and I sort of miss the chaos of the days gone by.

I'm glad I'm not the only one not keen on a White Christmas...
