1. Washing machine: front-loader or top-loader?
Front-loader. My family had an old top-loader years ago, I remember sitting on it during wringing cycle, to stop it from jumping around too much.
2. Detergent: liquid or powder?
Powder. I don't think there is a liquid one around here.
3. Rinse cycle: fabric softener or another additive?
Most of the time nothing, but sometimes I add fabric softener.
4. And then: clothesline or dryer?
Clothesline.
5. Do you fold things straight off the line or out of the dryer? What do you iron (or have someone iron for you)?
I fold them somewhat, mostly to prevent them from wrinkling too much before ironing. And I iron pretty much everything, unless it is not meant for ironing.

Detergent: liquid or powder? Most of the time, HE liquid detergent.
Rinse cycle: fabric softener or another additive? Fabric softener.
And then: clothesline or dryer? Depends on the garment. Most of my t-shirts, dress shirts and jeans get line dried while the rest go in the dryer.
Do you fold things straight off the line or out of the dryer? What do you iron (or have someone iron for you)? Only tank tops, t-shirts and jeans get folded, everything else gets hung in my closet. But regardless, they get folded/hung straight out of the dryer. I don't iron things unless they are extremely wrinkled.

I've never really used a front-loader-- and I've used some decent top-loaders and some really shitty top-loaders. I don't think I have enough information to have a clear preference.
Detergent: liquid or powder?
Liquid for sure. I've tried using powder a couple times and it was kind of fail.
Rinse cycle: fabric softener or another additive?
The only time I've ever used anything in addition to detergent was when I lived in Japan and either the ancient washer that came with my apartment or the detergent available (or the combination) made my jeans so rough and stiff they practically stood up on their own. I tried every possible proportion of detergent and fabric softener, but I ended up moving before I figured out the right fix!
And then: clothesline or dryer? It depends on the item. Some garments can only be hung dry. (Though rather than a clothesline, I use a foldable rack plus the backs of chairs if necessary-- and tabletops or my desk for those "dry flat" things like sweaters that ( ... )

1. Washing machine: front-loader or top-loader?
It depends on where I'm living. In my apartment in Korea, it's a front loader. The machine at home and at the Boy's apartment are both top loaders.
2. Detergent: liquid or powder?
Usually liquid (Dr. Bronner's!), but recently it's been powder because I ran out of my giant bottle of Dr. Bronner's. I wonder if I'll be able to find it in Sweden without paying through the nose.
3. Rinse cycle: fabric softener or another additive?
I...what? No. I only use the fabric softener sheets.
4. And then: clothesline or dryer? It depends on where I'm living. At home, I usually use the dryer, though in the summer if it's not going to rain I'll dry things on the porch. I'm the only civilized person in my family besides my mom, so I do my own wash while she does hers, my brother's, and my dad's. I think it's kind of silly to waste the energy to use the dryer for my own wash (which is often just my three work polo shirts and the handful of bottoms that match; in other words, not ( ... )
