I couldn’t decide what to wear this morning. I wanted something light and fresh as it was going to be another hot and sticky day. I spritzed on Miso Pretty Peony Body Mist (pretty sweet greenery), Gabriele Strehle Strenesse (light ‘n’ lemony), Bvlgari Eau Parfumee (green ‘n’ fresh), Comptoir Sud Pacifiqe Musc Alize (lightest pink airy musk) and Irie Wash 15h10 (citrus fizz). But none of them hit my buttons. I then randomly picked up Escada Collection (cherry, vanilla, tobacco) and wasn’t happy with that either. I then became inspired by my dear friend
G and threw BPAL Hellion into my makeup purse, along with BPAL Tarot: The Star.
I applied them properly when I got to work and spent the morning sniffing myself quite happily. A workmate even came up to my desk and said, “Are you the reason it smells so lovely and sweet around here?” Yay! I get a bit paranoid sometimes that I’m offending everyone, although I do try not to apply too much.
These two scents alone are really excellent, but together, they just combined for this lovely sweet, sort of spiced fruity, but not fruity combination.
Tarot The Star came in especially handy in the afternoon. A very short story to explain:
I left work early to go to my osteopath appointment (back is shite), aiming to get the 3pm company bus to the station. The bus turned up late - the driver had been called in as an emergency driver as there weren’t enough drivers for the afternoon shift. He proceeded to ask me how to get to our destination, some 20 minutes away. Me, because the other three people (men, by the way who, stereotypically, not saying they necessarily do! are meant to have a better sense of direction!) on the bus had no idea. One, I suspect did, but acted like he didn’t. What the hell was that about?! So it was up to me. Now, this might be a very easy task for most, but I am just about the worst person you want to ask to give you directions; I’m just not awfully good at it. Besides that, even though I get this bus every day, giving a bus driver directions made me very nervous. And he was nervous himself, this especially showed when initially he couldn’t get the bus started again! Gaaah!
So. To cut a long story short, we made it. But not without a few hairy incidents, such as: driver practically stopping the bus to get into the correct lane on a very busy main road, then changing lanes RIGHT in front of a truck! The blare of the horn scared the crap out of me! By the time I got to my appointment (late) I was a little bit frazzled. I rushed into the toilets and applied some of The Star. Aaaaah. The fizzy lemony goodness helped relax me somewhat, even through the new scary experience of the osteo using a strange contraption on my back that had four little padded feet that pounded rather hard into my back. It also made a sort of suction cup sound. It felt like there were two very, very tiny, rather thickset men wearing heavy suction cup boots and doing some sort of very fast Yiddish dance up and down my back, then using a mini steamroller to iron out any other kinks. I could even smell The Star drifting gently about me as she cracked my neck. Aaaaah. I think in the end, the osteo helped me relax too. :D
Seamus’ Scent: Hellion (was limited edition, and Balty's mate)
This one settles into my skin so very well. Hellion is a gorgeous plum. It starts off a slightly earthy plum, with the patchouli and scorched sandalwood simmering atop. A slight incense feel to it too. The narcissus provides a touch of dryness and the champaca is gently floral. Spicy plum, but not too spicy, with the dark red muskiness being the base of it all. A warm sweetness with just a hint of powderiness.
A scent for all rabble-rousing, nose-thumbing reprobates: black plum, champaca flower, dark musk, patchouli, narcissus and scorched sandalwood.
Tarot Oils: The Star (sadly now discontinued)
The Star is delightfully fresh and foody all at once. At first, a touch herbally - lemon verbena and/or lemon myrtle with a touch of mint? Very refreshment! About fifiteen minutes later, it’s lemon sherbert! Bright sweetness of lemon sherbert, with fresh coconut shavings starting to emerge. And this is when my mouth starts watering! Someone commented a while back that it was like coconut lemon cheesecake…and this is tastily true. Finally, it becomes a cakey lemon coconut tart like I used to get from a Chinese bakery, which brings back lovely memories for me. Ya, The Star is gorgeously invigorating and comforting for sure!
Oh, and this is what I had after the osteo…for extra relaxation you understand (and I did share with M when I got home...really!)! Caramel (their awesomely special caramel), cream and chocolate filled cookie with White Chocolate Raspberry shake from San Churro. I still prefer their churros with caramel sauce with cookie shake but these were pretty good, although the chocolate cookie was a bit too thick in texture, thinner would have allowed more caramel and cream tastes to come through!
