(This is an open LJ entry, as I'm looking for responses from more than just my small circle of friends).
I'm curious to identify the voice actor whom I recogise in the game Fallout an a "deleted scene" from Disney's 1973
Robin Hood.
Monday evening when I was feeling too ill for any brain work I blew the dust off my DVD of Disney's Robin Hood that I bought almost a year ago and hadn't had time to watch. (Just an aside: I was dissapointed it didn't measure up to the usual Disney standard of animation.)
What I'm curious about is the "deleted scene" I found in the disc's special features. To me it looked more like a planned-but-never-animated sequence. In this one Robin Hood was injured jumping off the parapet into the castle moat, and Prince John, intent on assasinating Robin, followed him back to the church where Maid Marion and others were attending to Robin's wound(s). At the last moment King Richard returned to save Robin and banish John (the absence of this scene explains the very abrupt ending in the film where Richard is simply shown to have returned). In the completed film King Richard says just one sentence, with Peter Ustinov playing a slightly different version of the voice he used for Prince John. The missing scene however has an entirely different voice, and one that I instantly recognised from the Role Playing Game
Fallout (ESRB Rating: M for Mature).
The Fallout series employed a number of renown voice talents. In the 2nd game of the Fallout series Michael Dorn (Worf of Star Trek: The Next Generaion) lent his voice to an ally NPC named Marcus.
In Fallout 1 the game's scriptwriters were somewhat cheeky and dropped hints identifying at least two of the voice actors. For example
Kath Soucie's character, Laura, enunciates the name "Nicole..." just as she did when portraying Princess Sally Acorn in the Saturday Morning cartoon Sonic the Hedgehog, whenever Sally was talking to her hand-held computer.
The actor I'm trying to identify played a character in Fallout named "Loxley" (a reference back to the Robin Hood film). Neither he nor Kath Soucie are currently shown in the Wikipedia article for Fallout, as both played optional characters who the player could skip and still achieve the game's objective. What I'm most curious to know is whether he provided his voice during the actual production of Robin Hood, or if the deleted/unfinished scene was voice acted at a later time. Interesting...
