So, it's Monday and I really do not wanna go to discussion. But of course, I will go, because I should. Uck. Anyway, my GSI amuses me endlessly with his jokes and perkiness, so it won't be that bad. Ughhhhh. Monday. I got back to Berkeley yesterday and helped my roommate chalk for the senate elections. I am a little proud to be on the bus and see my "Vote for" written in chalk on the sidewalk. Real people will walk on my words and stamp the words will fade under their feet. That's kinda exciting, I think. Or lame, maybe that too. I bought a Mirah cd because Jessica and Emily say I would really like her, and yes, I do. She's kind of a one woman Camera Obscura. Sort of. In other news, I should sleep more. Either that or stop drinking so much coffee. My wallet is crying, as Eric would say. Yeah, I need to give it up or limit it a lot. Alright. From today on, no more spending money on coffee for a while. Aaaaah. Empty promises, Laura. Woah, I just checked and I have quite a few more meal points than I thought I had. Hahaha, I'll use those for coffee then. Oh no! Then I'll end up spending way more meal points and then...ah. Laura Laura Laura. In further other news, go see The Lookout. It's really good and clever and I don't go for heist movies, even though it's not really a heist movie exactly, but I liked it a lot anyway. And you can't go wrong with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose name I'm probably misspelling but I don't feel like looking it up. We read the Wind in the Willows for children's lit and it is soooo boring. It's the first book we've read for that class that I actually resent for some reason. It was unduly long and random, had no interesting story to speak of, and I don't think the author even knew what the confines of the world he was writing about were. He didn't define them which would be fine but it makes the story itself confusing and annoyingly nonsensical. I'm all for ridiculous and fun nonsensical stories, but that just does not work for this book. Aside from all that, I did like Badger. He was cool.

OOOH. So I read Lisey's Story which is Stephen King's new book and it's amazing. It's my favorite of all of his books now, which was weird for me because I've read quite a few and thought his older stuff was the best...but then he comes out with the book he says he's been trying to write for the last forty books he's written and it just changes my mind completely. It was so easy to start reading and it has all of these amazing qualities to it that are typical of his books and his writing, of course, but this one is somehow different. It's like him to the nth degree and it's so polished and says everything he wants to say perfectly. I think it's more of a reflection of himself than his other books, which is weird since some of the stuff in the book obviously didn't happen to him, but whatever. Also, it's probably the only one of his books to make me really cry and not because something sad happened and then the sadness was over, but because everything in it was so touching and truthful. And he made use of symbols in a way he doesn't usually and it gave you so many ways to look at what was happening that it felt like it was so layered with meaning. And, you know, it referenced One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in the first couple of pages, and that's my favorite book of all time , so it didn't really have to work too hard to win me over. And it referenced bright eyes. Have I mentioned that I love stephen king? Because I do. I kinda wanna be like Lisey Landon if I grow up.
The end.
Because I have to go to class soon.
