My Shampoo container didn't lie...this time.

I use Lush's BIG shampoo.  And my hair felt really, really scuzzy when I got in the shower tonight, so I decided to wash it twice.  The first time, everything went as... normal.  The second time, for reasons I fail to understand since I was using the same pot of shampoo, the shampoo EXPLODED on my head.  I mean, this stuff doesn't typical foam up a ( Read more... )

JSYK, that's totally normal - here's a very basic explanation. The first time you wash the soap and surfactants in the shampoo form small bubbles (called micelles) around the oil, dirt and styling product in your hair, which is how they allow them to be dispersed with the water and your hair to end up clean. The second time you wash most of the impurities are gone so the soap molecules are able to form bigger bubbles and you get more lather.

I've never had shampoo have such a *drastic* difference between lather and the rinse and the repeat. I mean, this was a truly stupid amount of foam. :) But thanks for the info. It's good to know! :)
