I went out to get the things I need for work next week. I'm in charge of arts and crafts for Fun Day. Raise your hand if you're surprised by this. Yeah, I didn't think you would be.
Anyway... in trying to achieve this:
• A CTA bus came down my nearest cross-street. There is a *reason* no regular bus route goes down this street. It is very wee! I knew that meant things were going to be fug-ugly driving-wise in Uptown today. I was right.
• A little red sports car nearly killed me as I was trying to leave the gas station.
• Instead of taking the *completely vacant* oncoming traffic lanes, the ambulance with its lights and siren on decided to squeeze between me in the left-turn lane and the guy in the right-hand go-straight lane.
• A little old man with a top speed of half-a-mile-per-hour decided to stop and tie his shoe in the street where you turn into the Death!Jewel which is right where the one lane of M street is still open. This means there is like, no visibility. This caused CHAOS!
• The bus came down H street because Major Street M is GONE going west. I mean, there are fences up and guys in holes up to their chests type of gone. Both lanes on that side.
• It is a seriously nice beach day which means THE WHOLE WORLD is coming and going up and down M street to get to the beach with the same name. Because there IS no M street going west now, the entire world is going down MY street instead. And it seems, very much, that they no-lo-comprendo "ONE WAY" going EAST once they GET to my street.
But at least the parking gods loved me and even with it being a beach day (and a missing-all-the-parking-on-M-street-due-to-M-street-being-GONE day) and there was a spot one building down from mine when I got home.
I've gotten a few new things up on Etsy. My
rainbow soap cubes now come in
rainbow soap sticks! And I have an awesome (fairly Stargate-ish)
Eye of Ra/Eye of Horus soap up. There will be more later. The mock ups are done and shot and there's a whole new rack of mock ups in the freezer finishing (I spent my morning pouring Many Things into tubes).
I suppose I should start doing grown up things soon, like washing clothes for work tomorrow.
