Day 04 - Your favorite show ever.
It's impossible to describe the greatness of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in just a few words. But then it's also not really necessary - you either already love the show or you just haven't watched it yet.
The characters, the dialogue, the mythology, the plot twists, the romance, the heartache, the shocks, the one-liners, the action, it all sparkles. (Not the vampires.) It transcends genres and breaks the rules of serial storytelling. It's fun, it's pain, it's excitement, it's daring and thought-provoking. Seriously, there are hundreds of academic articles and essays about Buffy. (And I read a lot of them.)
If you still think it's "just some dumb show about a cheerleader fighting stupid-looking monsters", I can't help you. You simply missed out on one of the best-written, most influential shows in television history.
Buffy was my first step into Internet fandom and it will forever be the most important show I've ever watched. Everything I know about television and serial storytelling I learned from Buffy. It's what made me want to become a tv writer and it helped me find a lot of like-minded friends. It's not just a show for me, it's a part of my life. I can't wait to watch it with my kids someday.
