I had a great weekend. I visited Fat, as previously mentioned. I arrived in Cumming later than expected Friday due to Atlanta's hellacious traffic. We hung out at his paren'ts nice new house, watched tv and ate pizza, then later we went to a nice little microbrewery to pass the time. Saturday morning we slept in, then got up for a bunch of bacon and eggs. After digesting we headed up to Micalola Falls state park. We hiked along the approach trail that leads to the southern end of the Appalachian Trail at Mt. Springer, but unfortuately we started too late to cover the entire 7.5 miles and back. We checked out the park's visitor's center, then hurried home only to find no one around, so we waited until Fat's parents came home and took us out to dinner at a chinese place with huge portions. Then it was time for our adventure into Atlanta's nightlife. We decided to park in Alpharetta and ride the Marta bus into town, since neither of us had ridden Marta before and we wanted to see what it was like. We learned that it sucks, so after 45 minutes when we finally arrived at the train station we learned that we couldn't get back to our car later, so we took the bus back and drove into town. We wound up in Buckhead on Peachtree street, which was a huge party. I was impressed how many people were out, packed in the streets and the clubs, on what I assume was a regular Saturday night. We went to the Fabo Irish pub and watched a cover band, then to CJ's landing (which I highly recommend) and watched 2 more cover bands. The traffic on the way out was horrendous. Sunday morning Fat and I went to the Cumming Episcopal church. The service was very inspiring and the view out the window was pretty. Then, after scarfing down the leftover chinese food, we went with Fat's brother Cory to the Outlet Mall. From the bookstore I bought "American Heritage: Great Minds of History", which is a book on tape featuring interviews with 5 historians about various periods in American History. I bought it because unfortunately I didn't pay much attention to history in high school, and I want to know how we got here. I listened to most of it on the way home. I also bought a bathing suit at the Gap for $7.
I really appreciate Fat's friendship. I don't really understand it that well, but it's deep and wide and often quite satisfying.
I got back so I could study up on Econ and especially circuits, which had eluded me until tonight. I feel like I accomplished my goal (thanks especially to the coffeemaker I purchased at Wal Mart on my way home), but I had planned to finish up and go to bed by 12, and here it is nearly 2. I am learning how to be more productive though, and building better systems every day. It's an adventure, and I am progressing.
