     豆腐の角に頭をぶつけて死ね 【とうふのかどにあたまをぶつけてしね】 (exp) Take a long walk off a short pier; go stick your head in a pig; lit: bash your head against the corner of a block of tofu and die.

It is such a ridiculous mental image. I love it.

In the extras for the DVD of Lost in Translation, there's a bit of film crew and cast banter in which Bill Murray repeatedly says "Who do you think you're talking to?" in Japanese. I think I'd have enjoyed it if he'd said this instead. I guess that sums up what I'm thinking, that if you understand what's going on, the only amusement you can milk out of the film is the factor of "The Silly Gaikokujin Don't Know WTF is Going On." Quite to the tune of this:

I don't know if that's supposed to be funny or what. Because when you understand the cab driver, it just... isn't.
