Saturday Night's Alright for Snuggling, Saturday Night's Alright

I knocked of early at work tonight, it being my one short weekend that comes around every five weeks or so. I thought I'd treat myself to a movie night at home with the wife - of whom I have seen far too little this week. She made a yummy yummy dinner and we settled in to watch Goal!, which turned out to be a great pick - really great feel-good kind of movie. I glanced over about three quarters of the way through and saw my baby, my bear of a dog, curled up in my recliner looking more adorable than anything on four feet has a right to.

I think there is something special about a boy and the first dog that he ever gets on his own...and that for me was my Kayla. She's the dog-leader of our little pack, the Momma dog, the referee. And, if I didn't mention it, she's my baby and always will be. I am going to blame all the mush on the fact that I am reading the very end of Marley & Me, which if you love a dog or have ever loved a dog is a must-read. I am working up the gumption to read the final chapter...entitled The Big Meadow. The wife and I started out reading the book aloud to one another but as we neared the end it became too emotional for either one of us to deal with reading it out loud, so she finished it on her own a bit back and now its my turn. Anyway, it sure does remind me of how lucky I am to be surrounded by the love of these wonderful creatures...and to treasure them.

Enough of all that... The point is - I HAD to take my baby's picture tonight!

When she was a baby, her whole self fit in the palm of my hand......
