two big realizations this morning: I prefer painting to drawing because of the tactile pleasure of a gliding brush, the ability to 'sculpt' layers of paint.
i don't sculpt because (1) space and materials are at a premium (2) I really can't envision making something three-dimensional that wasn't also useful, and I don't know how to integrate the usefulness into art (aside from if I were making furniture or pottery or something)
