Alright...

I'm going to listen to the video of the State of the Union and jot down remarks here...

Blah blah blah....

Freedom, prosperity, right wing ideals of fragmentation of people rather than unity.

Housing: Let's see how this goes.  Touting the 'growth package', and it seems like a stupid plan to me.  But after watching the 700 Club this weekend, I understand it.  It is a governmental leap of faith in the Christian ideal of reciprocity.  If you give, you will receive more than you give.  I don't know that this is appropriate for government.

"Most Americans think that their taxes are high enough"  True.  But much like my friend who considers running to Britain if taxes go up any further, the problem is that our tax dollars are siphoned off onto global wars and bullshit, rather than the real purpose of taxes: services and things that are not profitable for the private sector to address (like environment).

Where he gets off on balancing the budget is beyond me. He may as well be a Knight of Ni.  Motherfucker has no legs (or arms) to stand on.

Rhetoric about 'consumer choice', etc.  More fragmentation.  Remember 'united we stand, divided we fall'?

'Junk medical lawsuits': there's a big, fat assumption.

'Education: trust students to learn':  Say what?  Now he's talking about his unfunded mandates that most of congress is actually against at this point, according to NPR this morning.

Free trade nonsense that fuck up the world, further creating social and economic inequity.  'Made in the USA' rhetoric not supported by his business taxes or policies.

Ghost writer anyone?  'Embolden the purveyors of false populism in our hemisphere'.  Mr Bush?  Four words of >3 syllables is not your thing, sir.  Inauthentic!

Energy: I like what he's saying here, other than nucular [sic] technology.  Nuclear energy is NOT emissions-free.  It has very expensive emissions that are toxic, radioactive, and problematic.  The best nuclear technology is billions of years old and 7 light-minutes away.  Nature figured that out a while ago.  Why can't we?

His take on 'the destruction of human life' is also inauthentic and ironic, considering stem cells save lives and war doesn't. If life is supposed be treated with dignity, how can we be in an unethical occupation across the globe?

Justice: the conservative notion of the interpretation of the law is totally against the spirit of the founders of this country.  It is very explicit that the Zeitgeist, not conservative ideals, was supposed to call the shots.  Progress is what we were founded upon!

'The armies of compassion'?  REALLY?!  That is totally oxymoronic!  And you don't get to claim anything positive with NOLA, sir.  No you don't.  2.5 years and it is still shit-hole.

Now he talks about horrible images and references 9/11 images to 'deliver justice to our enemies'.  Artificial distinctions don't help anything, sir.  Supreme egotism.

The 'surge' and his 'change in strategy' is at exact odds with what he used to say: remember 'stay the course'?  Flip-flopper.  Calling patriots of other countries terrorists does not make it real.

Blah blah blah.

All in all, nothing really moving or new.
