In the Bleak MidWinter

Jan 13, 2010 15:14

Since 17th December we've some sort of snow covering the ground/garden. It's the longest period of cold weather for some considerable time here - and locally we have managed to miss most of the heavy falls.  I should imagine that we've only had in total about 5-6inches in that period, it's just that it has stuck around much longer than usual. We've had the real fire lit in the lounge every night since then too and Christmas just felt more Christmassy due to the snow( rather than miserable rain or overcast skies).     I am so glad we work from home, no school cancellations for Ellie either. The latest snowfall resulted in a trip to the south Common (along the cliff  escarpment and the *only*  hill in Lincoln ) with our neighbour and son, taking our  improv bodyboard as a sleigh.  So much fun - there were all kinds of craft carreering down the hill - one family in an inflatable raft went flying by - all five of them in a huge heap. The proper sleds with runners were the fastest and got airborn - and there was this funny bike on runners which was bizarre in an awesome way.  If anyone wants to see winter type photos they're here under the cut

Anyhow I saw the first two episodes of Glee the other day. Loved it to bits - I hope I enjoy the rest of the series as much as the first two.

And finally and thank you to the lovely raspberry_splat  for the beautiful ecard that arrived in the Christmas holiday. Both Ellie & I loved playing it. *hugs*
