This place had nothing familiar. Not in the sense that the things the house contained were unfamiliar, but that nothing stood out as a marker of location. The architecture was obviously not Soul Society, and now Hueco Mundo either, but it didn't really look like the buildings of the human world he'd been in either. Most of them consisted of Japanese buildings, of course, but this didn't fall into his normal range for human dwellings ( ... )

Keigo gave their current location another look around before returning his gaze to Renji, especially attentive when he heard his stomach growl. Keigo blinked and decided against making a remark about it for the moment, instead giving him a nod. "A-ah.. y-yeah, that's true."

He peeked a little past Renji, trying to get a good look at the kitchen from around his bulky frame. Of course, he was too chickenshit to go further by himself and not brash enough to ask Renji to move out of the way, so he just left with a half-view of the kitchen.

"..d-doesn't.. look too bad..." He murmured, looking back over at Renji. "..A-ah, though, Abarai-fukutaicho, what .. what if the food is poisoned or something? Or just rotten?" He didn't mean to be a downer or negative of pessimistic, but in an unknown place like this, one couldn't be too sure, right? Well, Keigo didn't know, but he valued his life too much to bother being reckless.

Renji stepped into the kitchen enough to allow Keigo inside also, and an inspection of the cupboards was underway. Lots of boxes of nothing that looked very tasty and cans of who knew what. What language were those labels in? Who the hell knew?

"Huh? Poisoned?" He wondered aloud as he looked around, momentarily thrown by the question. "Oh. Right. Well, we'll inspect it before you eat any." He didn't think it would matter too much for him, being dead already, but Keigo was a human and he was susceptible to these sorts of things.

The weird object in the room with a handle made him stare a little, and he tentatively nudged it. "Hey, Asano, do you have any idea what this thing is?" He asked, eyeballing the fridge with some confusion. "Urahara-san had one but I never got to look at it."

Keigo stepped around Renji this time, watching as he was soon headed for the cupboards, looking for food. After a moments' pause, Keigo reluctantly followed suit, gingerly opening cabinets and drawers, hoping that nothing would jump out at him. Like a rat. Or a poisonous spider.

"A-ah..??" It was Keigo's turn to be thrown off-guard by Renji's statement, looking up from his spot crouched on the floor. "..w-well, wh-what about you? You don't want to get poisoned, right??" It still hadn't entirely clicked in Keigo's brain that Renji was actually dead, as it wasn't something that was brought to light by Ikkaku-san ( ... )

Renji shrugged to Keigo's question, scratching his cheek absently. "I'm already dead, so I don't think it matters." He commented offhandedly, and really it wasn't a big deal. He couldn't even remember ever being alive, anyway.

Renji obviously didn't share Keigo's fear of this place, or its possible dangers, but he still wasn't sure what to make of the fridge. The strange white box with the handle felt a little cold to the touch, but it gave no real indication as to what it was for. He hadn't seen Urahara or Tessai utilize the one they had in their own kitchen, and he'd been too prideful to ask.

Asking one of Ichigo's friends was somehow a lot easier. He looked over at Keigo as he replied and his expression turned to one of surprise at the explanation. "A refrigerator?" Renji asked, the word obviously foreign to him as he spoke it slowly before he turned back to it. "Food? That's all I need to hear about it." He grinned and grabbed the handle to give it a yank ( ... )

"..." Keigo fell silent at Renji's answer, uncertain of how to reply to it. He never really thought of the Shinigami as dead, even if he was aware they weren't human or anything that most would consider normal. But, he could see Renji and he knew he could probably feel him if he touched him--Ikkaku-san had hit him a few times in the past, so hit could assume Renji would be able to as well--so to Keigo, that didn't constitute being dead. He frowned and after a moment, he sighed. "But... I.." He stopped before he could create a full sentence; he wasn't even sure where to start in his line of questioning and decided against it for the moment ( ... )

He let the topic of his being dead drop entirely, not even aware that the subject might somehow be troubling to the human. Instead he focused on the food in the fridge, his arms quickly becoming filled with anything that caught his eye. "Eh? What the hell do you mean 'it actually has food?'" He asked, shooting Keigo a frown. "You said these things store food, so why wouldn't it have any?" Humans didn't make any amount of sense ( ... )

Keigo blinked at Renji as he scooped up a mountain of food without much consideration and chuckled a bit at his question, "Well, what I meant by that was um, this place doesn't look like there's anyone living in it? So.. it just surprised me that food was actually in there ( ... )

Renji had already cracked open one of the beers after dicking around with the tab for a few moments and the can was nearly gone by the time Keigo finally got into the Grand Room. He blinked and looked over at the fire again with some curiosity- a fireplace, eh? That made sense than "refrigerator" anyway. "Nope. Don't have anything like that in Soul Society. Or, not in Seireitei, anyway." They had a lot of fires in Rukongai, but he couldn't recall any fireplaces. Still. It was possible ( ... )

Keigo settled in the seat a bit, propping his legs up on the coffee table--careful not to knock anything over in the process--and gave Renji a glance. "Eh? Really? You guys don't seem to have a lot of stuff over there, do you?" Really, it was all so strange for Keigo to learn about all the things he'd taken for granted were things the Shinigami had never heard of before.

"Ah.. no, Ichigo's house doesn't have one.. Neither does mine. They're not too common.. they're kind of a Western thing, I think. But, some fancy places have them." He sighed, scratching at the side of his face. "I guess that makes sense then.. that you wouldn't know what it is.."

Keigo blinked as Renji offered to cut one of the apples open, his face lighting up quite a bit. "Ah..! Yeah, sure.." He reached over and placed the apple into his hand with a relieved smile; it obviously didn't take much to make Keigo happy, and Renji would probably see that the more time he spent around him.
