Characters: Axl, anyone who wanders across him
Setting: The pond.
Time: Night 010, before his reply in Misty's thread (and, thus, before being injured at the hands of a hell hound.)
Summary: LOOK, I'M NOT DEAD! Axl stumbles across the pond; if he wasn't, well, Axl, he might ponder the nature of the soul or whether or not he even has one. Fortunately for my sake, he's not that deep.
Warnings: Axl sees dead people! D:

If the house itself was strange, the sudden lack of it was somehow even stranger. And yet, Axl still couldn't help but feel relieved somehow. Something about that house set his sensors on edge-- there was something terribly wrong in there, and he didn't like it one bit. The place scared him, though he would never admit it out loud.

And while he was still trapped there, at least he wasn't trapped within the house's dark, hallowed walls, and that was definitely of some comfort; although, he still would've much preferred being able to return home. Home, with the Hunters or Red Alert-- either one, he'd quit caring, really. Even a Maverick would seem a comforting contrast to the horrors of the house.

He'd taken to exploring once again; he'd apparently developed a knack for wandering into bad situations, but maybe, he thought, his luck would change now that the house that imprisoned him was gone. His ability to teleport was still somehow disabled, and it made even less sense after the house had disappeared, but he'd come to realize that there was little, if anything, that could be done about it. At least, so far, there weren't any more of those awful things on spears.

In his explorations, though, he did wander across something that gave him a chill; at first glance, it didn't seem so strange. A pool of water; an oasis in the middle of the admittedly somewhat barren islands. Not that Axl necessarily even needed water, but whatever little comforts he could get, he would take. But when he approached it, he discovered that it was quite different from what it seemed-- a pool of water though it was, it seemed to be inhabited by ghosts.

He knelt down and stared at the spirits, not entirely convinced that he was really seeing what he thought he saw.

"... whoa. Are those real ghosts?" He asked no one in particular out loud, and he made to reach down and touch the water before realizing that, around this place, he could very likely draw back a nub. He quickly withdrew his hand and went back to just quietly watching, wondering, if it really was fake, exactly how they did it. And, if it was real, just who or what was capable of it and who were the dead people the souls belonged to in the first place? He didn't recognize any of their faces, from what little he could pick out of them. The fact that he didn't know any of the souls was of some odd comfort, but Axl was not in a position to look a gift horse in the mouth.
