A perfect day

I sit passenger side, soaked through from rain, the both of us. Winger is playing through the radio. His phone is on shuffle, occasionally interrupted by the gps guide. We’re about 20 minutes from my house now.

We’d spend so long inside between all the snow and cold, and how sick I’d been. His jobs hadn’t been helping too much, either; taking a lot of his time and patience, he wanted rest on weekends.

Today we wanted out, but with few options nearby I pursuaded him that a zoo I found some way west would be nice to go to. Cheap admission, good reviews. We didn’t think much on if they’d be closed or not.

It’s been one of the most wonderful days I’ve spent in a long while. In my life I’ve only been to the zoo 3 times, and everyone here was very well kept. I was smiling the whole time, even as my hands grew numb from the cold and rain. Most of the animals you were able to feed, too through little pipes and they gave you these little puffs of all purpose chow. (I may have used my small hands to my advantage and fed the animals by squeezing my hands through the bar, but only with goats and a pig)
Sadly, he tends to be the photographer at such things, because I become so captivated and enrapt by it all I forget to photograph anything at all. If people are interested I’ll post some of his pictures I like.

We finished at the gift shop, where he purchased for me the most wonderful creature of all time: a tapir. They’re some of my favorites to see if I can. I didn’t know they made plushies of them. Needless to say, I was very charmed such a thing, though it’s so childish. He bought it for me, of course. He called it an early birthday present.
I’m very pleased. Everything is right with the world.
