the joy of home ownership vol. 3...

I took a bath in my kitchen sink this morning...at least I have hot water now. the new drains and sewer lines are in under the house and the plumber replaced all the gas lines too for $600, I'm told this is an amazing price. the insurance company sent out a leak detection guy yesterday and he said the pipes were old and corroded, I'm afraid that means that insurance won't pay so I may end up suing the home inspector since two licensed plumbers have now told me that he should have caught this. the guy did comment on the job that my plumber is doing tho, he said he inspects plumbing systems all day long and it looks like the one he is putting in is a really good job, I mentioned the price and he was shocked at what a deal I got and even asked Kasey (the plumber) for cards so he can refer him to people when he is booked. the washer/dryer was hooked up last night and we did a few loads, however the washer insisted on dancing around the laundry room so much so that it crashed into the wall behind the dryer and ripped the vent hose in half, Sears says it sounds like they didn't remove the shipping bolts when they delivered it and I have to crawl back there and do it, um, isn't that what I paid $60 for? I remember when Sears was the best in the business but they have gone downhill fast, maybe they watered down the gene pool when they bought K-mart. another insurance adjuster is coming today to look at the floor in the bathroom and then I hope to have an actual shower there tonight or tomorrow, the rest of the wall came down where the bathroom sink is going to go and I think I'm going to add a pocket door since the space is so small. I am starting to get excited about the remodel, I am still a little shocked that it's actually happening at all! the bill stands at $7000 and the electrician comes today, oy!
