Susan walked into the Hufflepuff commons and feeling drained from classes. She set her books down by her feet and stood by a window. She looked out the window quietly and it was like she couldn't wait to go to window. She took a deep breathe and listened to the first years running around along with the other Hufflepuffs in the common room. She ( Read more... )

Ernie trotted into the common room, already thinking about running off to do some prefect runs and wondering which subject he should attempt to study while walking around this time. Sometimes it occured to him that he was perhaps stressing out about NEWTs too much, but he couldn't help it. It was his way.

He paused, however, when he saw Susan at the window. They hadn't actually had a proper conversation in a while, and he didn't actually have to go anywhere immediately. He checked his watch just to make sure, and when Ernie finally knew that the time was his, he went over to the window and stood next to her. "Good view?"

"Ahh!" She jumped and looked over to Ernie. She was just thinking of things and she wasn't exactly there. So when he came over and said something it scared her.

She couldn't remember when she last talked to Ernie. She felt like all of her friends were just to busy to talk to her. She never really says it to their faces though. "I was just looking. Yeah it's an okay view."

"If it's only okay, why are you looking at it?" he asked, leaning on the windowsill. "You deserve to be looking at something that's at least great. Don't shortchange yourself."

He wasn't really sure what kind of terms he and Susan were on anymore. They never really talked, and though he thought she was much recovered, Ernie was always slightly afraid of bringing something up that would pain her, even now, when he was only commenting on the view. "I suppose it's better than doing work, though."

She shrugged. "I'm fine with looking at okay things?" She looked to him and smiled lightly. "Shortchange myself? I'm not." She said softly without an attitude. She didn't think she was shortchanging herself.

"I hate doing homework. I need break." She still tried to be social and be friends with everyone. But when her friends appeared busy she never wanted to interrupt them.
