China is fabulous.

We've seen the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace and huge gardens and temples and beautiful "ancient relics." But my favorite parts are the markets and the little shops, where local people are buying and selling and making and bargaining and everyone's laughing and talking loudly and seeming to have a good time with their lives. Cherise said that they probably are having a good time with their lives; from what she's gathered living here with Paul, these people are all enjoying their lives with what they have. They're poor, live in tiny houses and sell their goods for a few quai-- that's less then a dollar. But they're all smiling and practicing proken english on this big group of foreigners. I've never felt so white! I'm not even white! I'm half-white! What an amazing country!

I really want to go and buy some Chinese silk and fabric, then go home and make something with it.

And buy fans and chopsticks and be all touristy-like.

I would really love to learn Chinese at UHM, then go back here in a couple years and talk to everyone. There are so many people!!
