Alright, I only have 4 more movies I'm borrowing from my boyfriend and still haven't touched the pile I'm borrowing from my brother or the two I'm borrowing from my dad. But at least some slow progress is being made.
Currently watching: My Blueberry Nights - I swear this movie could not go by any slower. I should've listened to Jim when he said he heard bad things about it. All of the actors except Natalie Portman talk incredibly slow. They could've cut a half hour off of this movie if they would cut out the 5 minute scenes where there's nothing but silence and Jude Law/Norah Jones staring at each other with lame-ass music in the background and speed up the talking. We'll see how it ends I guess, but I don't know if I care anymore. (Okay, I just finished watching the movie and it was lame. The only good part was the part with Natalie Portman cause she is hot and badass.)
Logan's Run - This movie had the lamest music. Also lame special effects and makeup (but that was the time). I liked the idea of the movie but overall it was kinda weird the way they played it out.
The Chumscrubber - There were parts in this movie where the guy was hallucinating or the narrator was talking with a creepy voice and that freaked me out. Also, the mayor had something fucked up with him. The movie was not that great.
Traffic - This movie was way different than I thought it would be. It has more than one story all intertwined in the same place all to do with drugs. And it was all made very real.
Friday Night Lights - Everyone likes this movie but maybe I'm just not a big football person. However, this movie was shot a little more realistically than other football movies, so I liked that about it. However, I just didn't care for some of the characters, I thought they were too bitchy and I'm not a big fan of movies that have a drunken parent in them (kinda freaks me out).
Terminator Salvation - I liked this movie more than most other people did. I liked the plot, the action, and the effects. I've watched all three Terminator movies plus Season 1 and 2 of the Sarah Connor Chronicles and honestly I didn't think the movie was that bad like many of the other fans did. I'm probably gonna buy it.
Casino - One of the best movies I've seen in a while. Narrated by more than one actor from their point of view. It was entertaining. It also has a lot of my favorite actors in it. Great plot with a wife who the main character loves but doesn't know if he can trust, and the main characters are in a mob and work at a casino. Definitely go see it.
Bedtime Stories - Honestly I wasn't planning on seeing this, but when I visited home my dad had rented it through Netflix and I couldn't fall asleep. So I figured, why not. I love Adam Sandler. He can be a serious actor and a funny one (or both at the same time). He was hilarious when he was telling stories to the kids and at the end of the movie too. I thought the guinea pig would be funny but honestly Adam Sandler was funnier. It was like you knew what he would say if the movie wasn't PG, so you just added the rest of his lines in your own head and laughed.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - I could've sworn I wrote about this movie already but I guess not. I thought it was very long. I'm sure it was good, but I just wasn't in the mood for a long movie. The dialogue between the two main characters was great though.
Night at the Museum 2 - I told myself I wouldn't see this movie, but it was free and I saw the first one, and I was bored. It sucked ass. The only funny parts were the Einstein bobble heads, Jonah Hill's lines, Ricky Gervais's lines, and then Amy Adams was hot. That was about it. I "squee-d" when I saw a couple characters from The Office and one from 30 Rock, but they didn't really have good lines. Don't even bother with this movie.
Fanboys - I had waited and waited and WAITED for this movie to even come out in theaters. Literally, I followed it for YEARS. Finally when it came out, it was a limited release and the closest location to see it was in Grand Rapids, at a time when I couldn't drive up to see it. I was pissed yet again. But then the dvd released and Netflix said "long wait". So then I tried a local video store. They didn't have it. Finally my quest ended at Blockbuster (turns out it is a "Blockbuster Exclusive" movie) where I spent $5 renting it. Later I found a coupon to rent it for $1.99. Damn. Anyhow, that's not even about the movie itself. I liked the nerdiness of the movie. I didn't like a couple aspects of plot. I literally could care less about two of the characters being in love. All they had to do was just have nerdy shit upon nerdy shit and that was it. All they had to do was just break in and get the damn Star Wars movie. But no, they had to add cancer and girl problems to this movie. Could've been so much better. What I did not expect, that I liked, was Seth Rogen's characters cause I have never seen him without the poofy hair. However, couldn't they have hired a second actor (whether it was a good one or a newbie) to play the other character Seth Rogen did, ugh?
The Rock - Why did I even bother with this movie because I hate Sean Connery (yeah yeah I know, I'm the only person on the planet who does, but he's not a bad actor, I just can't stand his accent) and Nicholas Cage. And it was pretty lame. The whole hostage thing was cool and Ed Harris is badass but I guess I didn't really care too much for the movie and thought Nicholas Cage looked like a wuss. I will admit Sean Connery with long hair is badass looking though. I thought the end also sucked.
Night Watch - This movie was great. The visual effects and the moving subtitles were amazing. The plot was great too. The end was awesome. I was glad I watched it with Jim cause it was a little bloody but overall really great. I would definitely watch it again.
Dark City - I honestly didn't even know what this movie was about but Netflix kept telling me I would like it. So Jim's parents had it and we watched it. I enjoyed this movie, it was a really cool idea (I tend to like futuristic/sci-fi movies). I liked how aliens (or whatever they were) were studying humans to see if they switched up something in their life what would change, kinda experimenting on their world.
Up - SPOILER ALERT
This movie was great. Pixar pushed the world's buttons again. This time I cried. A lot of grown men teared up in the theater as well. And children couldn't decide whether they liked it or not cause they were sad/scared too. Pixar did not give anything away in the trailers, which is what I love about them. God the beginning of the movie was SO SAD. Then, the middle was sad based on stuff from the beginning, and the end was sad for both the main characters. They couldn't have at least made it happier for the little boy?? I mean, yeah, I thought "ohhhh that was sweet" but then I still thought that his dad was a fucking bastard and that was sad. The dogs were SO CUTE. And their dialogue was great. Also, the bird was more of a character than I expected. Overall, I think that this is a great movie even though it was a tear-jerker.
That's it for now. I have about 21 movies sitting around to watch and 2 in the theater. Until next time!
