Tex Mex Won Tons

Mar 04, 2007 13:08

...I think I feel bad for being so derelict in my posting last week. It was the anniversary of my suicide attempt and I had to focus on me. I barely did any school work. So now I'm on this computer trying to catch up on my Multi sim project. This recipe has a lot of ingredients but they're all pretty inexpensive.

Ingredients
4 dz won ton wrappers
1/2 lb ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 tbsp chopped green pepper
1/2 of a 15 oz can refried beans
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 Tbs ketchup
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp ground cumin
Oil for frying

Taco sauce for dipping and whatnot

Procedure
1. Cook ground beef, onion and green pepper
2. Drain.
3. Stir in beans, cheese, ketchup chili powder and cumin. Mix well.
4. Sppon a generous amount of meat on a wrapper and fold like an envelope.
5. moisten point and seal.
6. Fry a few at a time in hot oil (375F) about 1 min per side

Serve with taco sauce.

Chef's notes: obviously being on lent I made this with boca crumbles. I add them to the peppers and onions after they had saute'. I also steamed mine and they were uber tastey. This is definitely a different twist on the wonton. Oh and I have a gyoza folder... Which if you make a lot of dumplings and you're not oh so skillful or if you have to make a whole bunch. They really come in handy.
