Good News

So those of you that know about me losing my puppy Lex also know that we all in my family loved him really fast and were heartbroken.

I was going to wait a few months before adopting again, but I saw the face of the most adorable Husky mix and I could. Not. Resist.  My mom and I drove from here in Memphis to Jonesborough, Arkansas (1hr, 20mins) and went and got this little (BIG) guy.

You can't tell from the picture (and I have a way better one trapped on my battery-less digital camera), but he has the most beautiful blue (almost white) eyes, and he's mixed with German Shepherd and he's had his shots.  Plus we took him to the vet to make sure he was okay, and she gave him a clean bill of health and his second round of shots (including Distemper, Parvo, Hepatitis, and Parainfluenza).  You also can't tell how big he is, but we measured him and he's about 26 inches from nose to butt (not counting the tail) and he weights 23 pounds, so he's already pretty big and he's only 3 months old.  Plus he is the sweetest tempered little puppy.  He loves people, especially when they tell him how beautiful he is...he just eats it up.  He also gets along well with other dogs, which is good because we start obedience training on Saturday.

By the way, his name is Kal(El).  The trainer loved his name and got it right away because her boyfriend is a Smallville fanatic.  She just doesn't know how much of a comic geek I am.  If she saw my car, she would.

Anyway, me and mom just adore him, and this is from the lady (my mom) that didn't want a dog in the first place, but as SOON as the people at the Humane Society brought him out to us, she literally exclaimed "OH MY GOD, HE'S GORGEOUS!"

So, this is my baby.  Of course, we're super over-protective and hover-y, but it comes with a bad experience.  But Kal just dug his way into our hearts and we're looking forward (or at least I am) to him getting ginormous...and he will be huge.

rl, kal the husky
