Dad tries out the new shades with some assistance from Mom's sunlamp.
As you all know, Sunday was Fathers Day. This year we did not do too much since Dad had to work Sunday - but we did all meet up at the house for dinner. I grilled for him, Mom prepared the rest of the meal and then we all played a game called "Would You Rather" which Nathan deemed was not a family game... Anyhow it was a nice evening with the fam.
Fathers day got me thinking about how grateful I am to have such a great Dad. He is definitely one of my favorite people on the planet. I realize that this can be somewhat of rarity - to have such a good relationship with your father. My dad is typically the first person I call when something is really wrong. He can talk me down like no one else when life gets tough. He is a great parent and a great friend. He is a good role model in life and has taught me so much. I always remember when I was a kid Dad telling me that he was my Dad first but that he always hoped someday we would also be friends. And now as I have moved into adulthood the nature of our relationship has changed and I can definitely count him and my Mom as my friends.
Side-note: I am a pretty big fan of my family in general... (immediate + extended!)
