Life after Japan

Looks like I'll be moving to Louisiana. I applied to three universities to study library and information science. I got accepted to all three (wasn't worried about that) but Louisiana State University is the one that offered me a graduate assistantship. Which I can't turn down, even though LSU was not my first choice. It gives me a job for a year, a discount at the bookstore, and, most importantly, instate tuition. Now that it is decided, I'm not sure that I want to move to Louisiana. I mean, cock fighting is legal there! Why can't I move somewhere vegan friendly? Now Michael is having a bad feeling about moving there. I think his feelings have affected my feelings. I was excited, but now I am more nervous than anything.

I have never been to Louisiana, so it should be new and exciting, right? It will be a new culture to explore. And it doesn't get cold, which was one of my criteria. Best of all, I will be going to school. I really miss taking classes. That part I am definitely looking forward to. We'll be leaving Japan on July 24th and will probably stay with my parents until we find a house to rent in Baton Rouge. School orientation is August 20th, and classes start on the 22nd. It will be a busy summer with getting over jetlag (14 hours difference), moving to a city I've never been to before, and starting school. Fortunately most of our stuff is packed in boxes and in storage so we just have to move it. It's funny, I actually don't remember what we own. Michael asked if we had monopoly back in the US, and I couldn't remember! Unpacking will be like Christmas.
