True dat. On the other hand, one must learn to be able to socialize and get along with many types of people, as one often cannot choose one's coworkers and colleagues in the real world, beyong quitting a job that is absolutely miserable. And like I said, now that I have the chance, I want to try out many things. I want to see if I can go to a frat party, act myself, and develop lots of friends, or if instead I find my true friends among the non-mainstream types, or a certain subgroup like the autotech guys or the computer geeks. College is a time for exploration and figuring out who you are, so I want to do just that. Especially since I didn't get the chance to do so in high school. But I have no intention of ending up with a mask, although I do intend to develop my (already considerable) social flexibility, which may seem mask-ish but is more like putting on different makeup colors to match the outfit or take advantage of the lighting.

And it's not like I have to make an absolute final decision now anyway - for Orientation, you are only temporarily assigned to a dorm and room, and have a chance later to enter a reassignment lottery if you don't like it. 'Tis complicated, but worth the bother.
