Had a nice, relaxing weekend spent largely at home... Friday night I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End, which was quite entertaining. Captain Jack Sparrow was certainly amusing, and Miss Elizabeth Swann kicked some major ass. Like that scene at the beginning when she removed 10+ weapons concealed about her person. Heehee!

Saturday I... what did I do Saturday? Read, mostly, I think. Which was rather lovely. Mmmmmmmmmmmm books. I've missed them so. And I watched the MIT Housing video, and read the info booklet, and started to think about dorms. I put all but my top 4 in order (although the bottom 10 of 16 don't really matter, as I don't particularly want to live in any of them and hopefully they won't get that low anyway.) I'm still debating about which of my top 4 I most prefer, though. Baker? Senior Haus? East Campus? Burton-Conner? Eeny meeny miny mo... Baker is known for being the most social dorm, as almost all of its rooms have multiple kids, and the culture is such that it encourages kids to work together on p-sets a lot, and lots of parties on the weekends. Burton-Conner is somewhere between EC and Baker, I think. EC is known for kids who like to build crazy things (usually in the courtyard), like the roller coaster they build every year for Orientation. That was also the dorm that built the lemonade-dispensing toilet for CPW. They also do things like blow things up, climb, and go hacking. And the walls are COVERED with paintings and posters and all kinds of cool stuff. Oh, and cats are allowed in 5 of the 10 halls, unlike Baker and BC. Senior Haus is kind of like EC in its culture (and allowance for kitties!), but it leans more towards artsiness and they don't build stuff as much. (Though one time they did design and build a catapult that could be deconstructed in 3 minutes - the response time of the campus police - which they used to lob several refrigerators onto the lawn of the President's House, which is right next door, one time when the students were not happy with a certain policy. Apparently the policy was reconsidered.)

Sunday I made straight a highway in my wilderness so that Dad and Thomas could install my air conditioner (ah, relief! And of course now it's cold and rainy instead of hot and steamy like it was on Saturday.) Then I took the opportunity to clean my desk (and by "clean" I mean "remove all the dust." There's still a lot of junk I have to sort through and convince myself to get rid of, or at least sort away somewhere.) And I read some more. Yay books!

And now I must off to work... *sigh*
