When it rains, it pours

So yes, I've been sick (but am getting better). Yesterday, in the middle of gaming, my internet suddenly broke. This was due to a sudden and disruptive fault in the phonelines that knocked out our phones entirely. After some calling around to the phone company and then Telstra who actually own and (supposedly) maintain the lines, they told us that there was a damaged line, and they would fix it.

On Tuesday.

You see, sending people out on a weekend to fix vital infrastructure like phones is not something the government likes to do. You know, overtime payments can be a pain to calculate. I'm sure the sheer amount of money gained from a lawsuit over the preventable death of a loved one should the phones have been working would also be a pain to calculate. As you can see, since I am typing now, they managed to get the lines fixed (sometime in the late afternoon, Sunday). I'd like to think it was a change of heart brought on by the crisis of conscience over accidentally being the cause of someone's death in an emergency. In all likelihood, it would be because they had someone out in the area who could deal with it on their way back to the office.

God bless those techs who hate their families and like to work on Sunday as much as they can, and to hell with the jerk in finance who has trouble calculating pay for people.

Unless it fixed itself, in which case I expect to drop again at any moment without rhyme or reason.

I wonder what the 3rd will be? Bad luck in 3s and all that.

Bah.

So, with my brian half working and being plagued by constant synus related headaches and a generally oppressive and depressive environment, I'm back to trying to write up a game of some kind. I'm hoping to have it at least outlined in theory by the weekend. My notepad is almost out of paper however, so I might have to risk journeying up the road to the newsagent and grabbing a new one or three. I've become quite attached to writting the ideas out by hand as compared to typing them, if only because they seem to just flow, and I can scribble madly. Pity I can't spell.

As for the game? I'm thinking Thousand Suns: Redux: Redux: Redux. I'll get a version I like and can share yet. Keep those characters on hand.
