NY Comicon

New York Comic Con was amazing.

Took the train up friday and got into New York about noon. The was an excited flutter in my stomach as the train slowly pulled into Penn Station. I wanted to jump through the window and race along the tracks to get into the city. Once off the train I exited to the 8th ave and 33rd St exit, which is the closest way out and also where i need to go and just took in a deep breath of the city. The nice thing about my destination was that it was the opposite direction of everything but still wonderful. The Javit Center is on 11th Ave and away from the tourists, well not when there is a con, but from the location you can see a great deal of the city and how wonderful it is.

Got to the Con and checked in and started working. Most of the time my wonderful friend Elizabeth and I manned the raffle booth which was also a display of Will Eisner's last book The Plot, about the idiocy of the Protocols of the Elder of Zion. We got to be silly all day and talk to interesting people and look at very interesting costumes. I'm just not sure that I could walk around a convention of something that I was into while wearing a costume. Maybe there isn't anything that I'm really into but if for some reason I did to it, I would make that shit look good. Kids can do whatever they want and look cute but about the time you get grass on your field, people are going to mock your half assed attempts at something. Or at least I will. And not to your face.

And I saw an idol there: Tim Roth. By the time I could articulate anything he had already passed the booth and by the time I could move and around the corner to look at him, he was gone. I had a star wood for a good few hours and kept scanning the crowd for him. Sigh. I also saw Casper van Dien. Cute. Short. Meh.

NUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On sunday because the pope was in town, there were religious peoples all over the place. As E and I were heading out of the subway, there was a line of 4 nuns waiting for another to enter the turn style. The were decked out in full gear. The had grey, not black, on but looked so cute! That entertained me about half the day.

Radda rada radda ra-da. raaaada.
