I joined the guys for a run at Sentosa and I got dropped so badly tonight.
Alvin brought us to a new 5km route around the island instead of along the beach. I happily agreed. But what he failed to tell me was that this route is mostly along the road where the air sucks because of the fumes from the vehicles, and there are about a thousand and one uphills. The first uphill was rather gentle, so much so that I didn't realise I've been running uphill untill Alvin tells me so. Then I feel myself drifting further and further from them, so much so that I could no longer see them ahead. There are many curves in this route and there's basically nothing much to see except for the greens, which looked rather scary to me. It was getting dark and I was alone. There was nothing else I could do except to run and hopefully they will not forget me because I have no idea how this route goes! Being left behind, sucks.
That was probably the longest uphill. The rest are relatively okay, but throughout the run, Alvin had to run back to pick me up twice so that I don't get lost! It really is quite embarrassing. I tried to follow his pace, but no matter how much I will my legs to speed up, it doesn't last long enough to follow him through.
The best part of the run was the last sprint towards the end. Alas!
To think that this is just 5km, how am I going to survive the 10km race? Tsk.
