Today in Yesterday (and the day before that, and the day before that)

Today in Yesterday (and the day before)

So the weekend was interesting.

Friday night, Kinra and I got together to do another episode of Squideye and The Bitter Guy. Make sure you've listened to the last ep, because you don't want to fall behind!

On Saturday, Cynra & I got up extra early to get our tires changed. Supercar remains my best buddy in terms of cash outlay, as it needs another tire replaced (huzzah!).

Hopefully I can now enter a new four year phase where all the tires don't need to be replaced, although I've not replaced any fronts yet.

Anyway, after breakfast Cynra was feeling rather ill, so she took all the tires home and I meandered off to Ad Astra.

After paying my reg for the day, I found out that I had, in fact, missed out on the GoH speech that Aaron Allston gave. Boo! It turned out that he was going to be part of the autograph scrum (seriously, that was wackiness) so I had that to look forward to. I dropped into the "Research: Beyond Wikipedia!" panel that kiviuq was on, and after that strolled over to the dealer's room, where I picked up a couple Imperial Entanglements boosters and a copy of the first Scalped trade.

I got a Lobot & an Admiral Thrawn fig; since I already had Thrawn, I traded him for a Darth Sexy Twiilek.

I spent way too much time blocking the Browncoats table, and then got Cynra registered for Polaris. I will probably not be going to the con, as there's a Rush concert the Saturday night. Which is geekier, going to a SF con, or not going to a SF con because there's a Rush concert?

I eventually made it into the autograph scrum, where I got AA's JH on a few items, as follows: Adventurer's Club #2, the first issue on which he was a contributing editor; Strike Force (Aaron Allston's Strike Force), where he helped introduce a lot of the gming concepts that would enter common use; AD&D Complete Fighter's Handbook, which launched one of my longest played and most loved PCs; and the FrED edition of Champions, which was like reading a catalogue of why Supers is awesome.

And The Circle & METE, just for Shits n' Giggles.

I felt kind of guilty handing him this huge pile and going into detail about why each of them was awesome and trying not to turn into the crying wrestling guy, but then the guy behind me had a grocery bag full of paperbacks. Loser!

Then I talked to Ed Greenwood a bit, who's just a local guy, right? I'll bet AA is the same way to Austinites.

Much of the rest of the day was spent talking to people, and I grabbed some dinner with redeem147 and Cinn48, who ran into us (literally!) on the walk over to the Timmy's.

After dinner, I killed some time in the game room with The Stars are Right (Gene Shallit verdict? The Stars are Wrong!) and then went to the NerdGasm production. Sorry to rain on the parade, but it needs at least 20% more nerdy. Good sets, though. Just not quite at the right Nerd RDA.

Got home and watched Cynra play Luxor. She ended up crashing and I watched Tina Fey host SNL.

Sunday morning was new Who, and the afternoon was yard work. Then, I went off to coffee night and home for TAR and bed.

Whee!
