R.I.P. "Capone"

Feb 21, 2008 10:38

I know I haven't been here for a while, but I figured that there are a lot of people from the area that know of "Capone" from the River. He was a very good friend of mine during his time here in Omaha, and he is the one that "forced" me to go to my first Blue show.

I got a call from a friend of mine early this morning, then woke up to find a "do you know what happened" message in my inbox...no, I don't know what happened, yet...but I am working on finding out.

It takes news a while to travel down this way since he and his wife were living with their two children in Michigan. He grew up in Traverse City and moved back there for another radio job when he left the one at the River. Since his move, I hadn't heard a lot from him other than the occasional "check in e-mail"...but that is how he always was...living in the moment, not too worried about the past...but he always managed to keep that connection, and I know he would have been good for a drink and a couple new bands for me to check out if we ever would have crossed paths again.

This is all we know right now: Dominic J. Famiano, 33, of Lake Ann, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Munson Medical Center. Dominick is survived by his wife, Rebecca A. Famiano; his children; daughter, Zoe Famiano and son, Dominick Famiano.

Dom was a wonderful friend and huge supporter of local and regional music...He will be missed.
