I Don't really come here that often, because almost nothing changes here. It still smells like, and I quote from rolling stone magazine, a "dog shit smoothie" It's still hot, As write this at almost 10pm here its 104 degrees.
Here's what we did today, We went to our Iraqi Police(IP) station which is like a mini fortress, to enter it you have to drive through a serpentine surrounded by T-walls(the side facing out to traffic is decorated with several different murals(though one of them creeps me out a little: it's a painting of an IP handing a small child flowers that appear to be roses), which is a nice change from the normal cement color that makes up the rest of Iraq, and rows of smashed up and just shitty wrecks of cars that look to be abandoned but I bet are still driven. We then enter through a blue gate in a light blue wall, which gets wider and wider as one of trucks tow-bar continues to hit away chunks of the wall.
Inside that is a parking area and a two story building thats white on the lower portion and blue on top with four towers, one in each corner. The Parking area is full of more beat to hell cars and blue trucks and S.U.V.s which are the IP vehicles, most of them don't run either. We spend time there do our thing then we head out on a presence patrol(PP) because we need to spend a certain amount of time on station before we can go, and we needed to extend.
Straight from that PP we head to Baghdad International Airport(BIAP) to drop some one off, so we to the mayors cell find out where he's going drop him off, and then goto the Post Exchange(PX) to kill some more time before heading back. I decided to get some food so I got some Taco Bell, and then it was around time to head back.
We drive back and re-enter the fob and that was it for the day, I know it sound's extremley exciting but thats the average day I have except the trip to biap was some thing we do every now and then.
