It was Thursday when they said A Through G's pack your bag's you're going tonight. They were attached to another company and was flown out the night before I was. When it was our turn to go we packed up our gear loaded it on a connex and had it trucked with us, We bused to the air force air field which is about an hour away from where we were in Kuwait.
we got there dropped our gear and waited for a about 3 hours until they did the second roll call, loaded us onto buses and bused us to the plane. It was a c17, and clearly the largest plane I will ever be on we loaded our company, a half another and all our gear. We flew into Biap(Baghdad international airport)and met up with the rest of the company. We got sent to some tents because we had to wait for our helo ride. The tent I got stuck in had broken AC so for the day I avoided the tent because it super heated. The Food there was amazing, I had lobster and cheesecake, it was great.
When we got sent to the airfield, we had to wait for our helos to arrive, when Our chalk arrived we walked to the chinook in a single file line right into the back hatch, The heat coming from the engines was amazing, I felt like my face was on fire, its like opening and over and having a fan blow the heat into your face.
The ride it self wasn't so bad, Extremely loud, not so bad though turbulence wise and heat wise, and once we landed we were home, in *.
