At least I'll be able to spend time with my friends and...my family, right? It'll be even better since we'll be spending it together this year. Hey, Mayfield, I'm in the mood for some baking. Would you all like a plate of cookies? I promise they'll be delicious, made with loads of Christmas cheer.

Well, I guess that's it then.
[She hangs up the phone and tries to preoccupy herself with little things around the house. But It's quiet, which makes her uneasy. So instead, she decides to wander outside, just...flopping onto her lawn. Completely unarmed. She refuses to board up her house and be scared. She refuses to show weakness. And, in her opinion, carrying a weapon around is showing weakness. It makes her look like she's scared or expecting something to happen at any moment. Which she's not. Because, she wants to keep hoping that the whole war mess will just go away.
It hasn't yet, but that doesn't mean she has to sink into madness like everyone else.]
