Paul McCartney Turned Down Weird Al For "Live and Let Die" Parody

Jul 08, 2011 15:17

Master parody maker Weird Al Yankovic asked Paul McCartney if he could spoof the Wings hit "Live and Let Die" but was denied by Maca, who is a devout vegetarian and animal rights activist, because the parodist wanted to turn it into "Chicken Pot Pie." It's not that Sir Paul didn't have a sense of humor; he's just not a hypocrite and could not approve or give blessing to a parody at odds with his personal beliefs.

Yankovic told ESPN's The B.S. Report that McCartney didn't want his song to possibly promote the consumption of animal flesh, even if by a parody song by someone else. However, McCartney told the singer to think of another subject and he'd be happy to OK it! Wow, how cool! Al, get thinking.

What idea should Weird Al suggest to Paul McCartney for a parody song?
