Macca Wants to Be Amazed!

Paul McCartney wants to know what you really think about his music. The Beatle has launched a contest seeking artwork inspired by a few of his solo albums.

The contest, which is being run by global social networking site Talenthouse.com, is open to graphic designers and illustrators. Artists are invited to submit graphic art inspired by Macca’s debut solo album, 1970’s McCartney, or 1980’s McCartney II. Both albums were re-issued earlier this year.

Fans can submit original art now in JPG, JPEG or PNG format through Sept. 6. Voting via Facebook will be open to fans between Sept. 7-13. The winner will be announced Oct. 5.

McCartney will personally choose the winning piece of art, which will be displayed in Idea Generation Gallery in London in addition to being featured on the English musician’s website and his Facebook page.

The winner will also receive $1,000; Adobe Creative Suite 5; a pair of tickets to an upcoming McCartney concert of their choice along with a meet and greet at the show; a framed lithograph of their winning entry signed by McCartney; and a deluxe set of McCartney and McCartney II albums.

The second place and third place winners will also have their artwork displayed on McCartney’s social media channels along with receiving Adobe Creative Suite 5 and a deluxe set of McCartney and McCartney II albums. In addition, the second place winner will also snag a pair of tickets to an upcoming McCartney concert of their choice.

The six artists who receive the most votes online will each win $100 and a copy of McCartney and McCartney II.

“Have fun with this competition,” McCartney said in a statement on his website. “I look forward to seeing the amazing artwork that you are all going to produce and I encourage you to feel free and basically have a scribbling good time.”
