'Twas a good birthday

May 17, 2006 01:27

Some of you may know I'm safely back home from Aggieland. To the others, I'm... safely... safely back home...

So yeah, I woke up at like 12:30 this morning (not including the time I woke up at 4:00 after being asleep in front of the TV for 2 hours). I got a shower, ate some lunch, etc.

I ran a few erands. Then I went to fill up on gas (since I didn't fill up once between College Station and Corpus). I went into the gas station and went to the cooler and picked up a 6 pack of Guinness. I brought it to the counter, and all the guy did was check on the price and then took my money. I didn't get carded at all. I guess it was my beard. Anyways, I was somewhat dissappointed about not being carded. I mean, had I gone into that store the day before and that guy was there, he would have sold to a minor and not known it. Great system we have in place...

The rest of the afternoon was uneventful.  I put more of my crap that I brought from college in my room, and then I went looking for guitar stores.  Still haven't really found a guitar I want yet, but I plan on really shopping around tomorrow.

For dinner, mom, dad, and I went to B&J's Pizza.  I always forget how much better it is than anything else I've ever had pizza wise.  Dad and I both enjoyed a Shiner Bock each.  It really wasn't bad stuff.  I like Dr. Pepper with my pizza better than beer, but it's not a bad combo either.  I was being a nerd and talking to my parents about beer and Hops.  Mind you, there were cops at the neighboring table.  I was like," Yeah, hops are in the same plant family as Marijuana.  It's just one is in the genus Canibis and the other is in Humulus.  I think you can figure out which one is in which".  I was oblivious to the fact that there were cops there.  When we got in the Truck later, dad turned around to me, fixed me with a stern eye, and said "Trey, don't ever talk about marijuana or Canabis with police nearby again".  Oops... Not quite as bad as the time we were at a Grandy's and my oldest sister Emily jokingly called "child abuse" out to my dad with cops about 2 booths down...

Anyways, we returned home and opened presents.  My big present is the guitar, so I didn't have much to open.  I recieved some cash from some relatives, my sister Emily bought me a Guinness shirt, my sister Hillary called and said she and Bob (her fiance) are going to buy me a videogame and a beer (respectively) when Hillary is back in town.  My aunt got me Wizardology and some Dragon Tarot cards (don't know where she got that idea... I think she got them because they had Dragons on them... strangest gift I've ever gotten...), and my parents hinted that I should have gotten some CD's, but Amazon hadn't delivered them yet.

During the gift opening, my Scoutmaster called my Dad and since no one at the time was there to help, he asked that my dad and I sit in on an Eagle board for my good friend Hersh.  We agreed.  Later on more people showed up, so we could have in reality not gone, but that's fine.  Hersh is a good guy, and I was honored to sit on his Eagle board of review.

When we came back, we had some homemade tirimasiu (sp?!?!?!).  It's good stuff!  My mom also puts a raspberry puree on the plate for the dessert to sit on... it's very nice.

Afterwards, I had a couple of cold Guinness while starting to read the Narnia books.  Guinness is pretty bitter, but it's also not that bad.  In the end I didn't get drunk.  I got a little buzzed, but not drunk.  That's actually fine, I had no intention on getting drunk.  So it was a good birthday.

Oh, and this semester was very intense as far as courses, RA duties, and choir obligations went, but today they finally posted grades.  Here's how I did:

Thanks to all who facebook'd me a happy birthday!  Now I just have to sit through tomorrow in my anxiety of getting my wisdom teeth removed on Thursday (the 18th)...
