It's.. been an interesting few days. It's safe to say that Isis has taken the uplink for granted more than she'd admit to most anyone, as, well. It was always there. She's finished grading assignments, she's finished working on what she has planned next for Nexus history, and is now working on what she needs to do for Ethics of Magic

Once the forcefield is down, Isis steps past where it was to glance through the portal and close the glowing door that it is, "Don't need anyone else coming through displaced." Isis murmurs At least, by accident, anyway.
Tori glances to Eiko, now, "Transdimensional?" A blink, "I'm.. in another reality?"
A little sheepish smile from Isis, "Er, yes, let's go upstairs so we can explain a bit better."
That said, Isis will lead her mother and Eiko upstairs. Let's start with introductions, first, those are the easy part. .. Comparatively, anyway, "Mom? This is Eiko Takashima, my wife. Eiko, this is Tori Menes-Macrow, my mother." Isis kind-of has to blink at that statement, the sheer surreality of it hitting her for a moment, as that's one introduction she never actually thought she'd have to do.
After that, she'll start the tea. Tea making is normal. Tea making is normal even if the situation is absurdly surreal as all hell.

Why not give all the shocks at once, Eiko thinks.

All they need now is for Bastet to show up. Which, alas, and perhaps thankfully, won't be happening. She's currently suffering the same PIN issues as Eiko and Isis
"Um. Eiko's a scientist, a 'mad' one, basically." A beat, "Think like a Skylantian, except on several scales higher. It's through the wonders of.. geneticist?" Isis glances to Eiko, she's not sure she's using the right word, and can't check the definition or thesaurus like she usually can.
Tori nods, accepting of the explanation of the moment, "..So. I'm in an alternate universe?"
"And to make it worse, the future, as well." Isis rubs her forehead a little, nngh. Time travel headache forming on top of the one already there. "So. Um. What to explain first..." Thoughtful, and then the sort of 'ah hah' expression, "A couple of years ago, I found an interdimensional Nexus by complete accident. Through which, I eventually met, dated, and fell in love with this wonderful woman here." It's the abridged version, but gods only know how long they have right now.
Or if Tori'll remember this. Sadly, she won't, but it gives Isis a chance to show Eiko who her mother is. Tori nods, taking this in, "I assume I'm not in this nexus now?"
"No, not at the moment, apparently whatever's going on there has affected Skydera as well, which is causing massive time fluctuations."

For herself, Eiko's putting out muffins. A small mountain of them.
What? She's been bored.

You kinda do end up going a little stircrazy. God knows how many times she and Eiko have jumped each other by now. "Hard to downright impossible to explain." Isis adds, and quietly swipes a muffin for herself. Because she's aware she can get away with it. She swipes another and offers it to her mother.
Tori looks at it for a moment before accepting it, the sheer surreality of the moment just.. overwhelming her, to be honest, "What do you think will happen?"
"At the moment, we have no idea, neither one of us has heard anything." As, presumably, Beast would tell them somehow. "..And I'm not sure what will happen to you, either."
"I suppose that explains why your room looked different than I remembered." Tori states thoughtfully, "And a mad scientist?" She asks, "That's.. interesting." It's not an offensive 'interesting', but she doesn't really have a word in common to describe it. Possibly she means 'fascinating'.

"And mad is... more shorthand for having people say 'that is not possible' and showing them the prototype device doing it. I've got eight doctorates, seven master's degrees, and I'm a doctor certified in trauma surgery, neurosurgery, and obstetrics and gynecology." She grins. "I bore easily, and I have an unusual brain that lets me learn things very well." There's no reason to go into the details of HISS or last year's drop into madness.
"I have a small device here, but without communications to the rest of, well, everything, it's not giving me a good picture."
"And yes, genetics. Little Amelia here was sort of genetically put together and then I went in and got pregnant through technology."

Isis smiles, "Thank you." A thoughtful pause, "It's.. going to be a little bit before the balance is restored, I think. Whatever--or possibly even whoever--is causing this is throwing things for a loop that..."
Tori nods, "I can feel it as well. It's.. massive."
"..Although not as massive as the time fluctuations the last time." A fact for which Isis is rather obviously thankful, "Although that doesn't really tell us how long this will last."
"..Or what will happen to me once it reverts." Tori states, also thoughtfully.

Her voice is thoughtful as she explains this. Her eyes are locked on Isis's, and what she's thinking comes through, despite the lack of link, their lack of telepathy, and all the other ways to communicate:
We cannot tell her what happens to her in the future.

"And, presumably, what is happening on our homeworld will revert to the way it should be." Isis, since asking her mother the year, knows about when she's from and how long until, well.
Tori nods.
Thoughtful, Isis asks, "..Do you have any idea what's happening there? I saw the storms outside the window.."
"I'm afraid I don't know, Isis." Tori shakes her head, "I'm a bit more clueless than either of you are, what with this whole.." Gesture, "Multiverse thing." Tori glances basement-wards again. "And.. as fascinating as it's been, I think.."
"..that it's probably best that you go back?" Isis asks, quietly.
Tori nods. "We don't know what might happen if I remain here, either." A small smile, "I don't know if I've said it recently, Isis, but I'm proud of you."
Isis smiles back, although broader smiled (even if her eyes are a bit distant), "Thank you." She stands, and then Tori does as well. Both glance to Eiko, to see if she wishes to see the elder Macrow off.

She actually does need to go; this is just a convenient way for Isis and her mother to get a few stolen moments of private time.

"No, nothing's wrong." Isis is lying. Tori can tell, but she suspects there's a reason that she Isis is lying to her. "..I was just.. worried."
Tori waves it off, "I'll be fine. As you've said, everything should revert when the balance is restored, yes?" She smiles a little, and stands. Isis does so as well, the latter readjusting her pants a little.
There's sort of an awkward pause, and Isis hugs her mother, suddenly to the point that Tori makes a little bit of a surprised sound. "Mom, just.. be careful okay?"
"I'm always careful, Isis." She hugs back for a moment, and the release from the embrace. Isis leads her down to the basement and the portal.
Tori examines it for a moment, "Goddess alive, I didn't really look at it, but now that I do, it's.. amazing what you've done here." Tori touches the door for a moment, closing her eyes, "Weaving the spell into such a manner.."
Isis looks a little sheepish, "It took a little doing to get it to work the first couple of times, but after that, it was fairly easy to do." She does smile, though.
Tori smiles right back, "I suppose I'll see you when I see you, Isis. If I've not said it recently, I wish you the best in everything, and that your wife has a safe pregnancy."
"I'll pass it along." Isis smiles a little distantly, "Good-bye, Mom."
"Bye, little Isis." A small smile, and Tori steps through the portal, the door closing behind her.
Isis merely stands there for a little while, watching the portal and lost in thought.
