What did you think - yay or nay?

I'm on the fence about this issue. I always thought I'd be cheering when Jack got his groove back, but his switch to monologuing badassery felt kind of jarring and shallow to me. I understand that the fate of Gamorra was designed to echo things from the Ellis run - the decisive destruction, the saved-more-than-we-killed. But it felt flashy and foregone in a way last issue didn't, somehow. It was like the humility and self-doubt that have elevated this series were being jettisoned - no lessons learned, just baggage you ditch when you get your powers back. Angie's treatment of Cybernary seemed very off, for instance; she no sooner gets control of her own tech, than she gleefully tears the same from an adversary with a few smart words - seemed almost Millar-esque and it saddened me because I've loved Angie's characterisation in this series. And just like that, she's back with Jack and he seems to be team leader again. I dunno - it read to me like the main drive of this issue was to get things back to 'normal' for the new creative team.

The only part I really enjoyed was the Midnighter story. Partly because of Coleby, I admit. I may be reacting to the artwork in the other section. Coleby seems to be able to draw self-doubt and humanity into his faces, whatever they happen to be doing and saying.

Thoughts? Disagreements?
