Vacation
I am on Vacation.
That's right - me, the work-a-holic - on vacation.
Started out driving to Chicago on Saturday morning with my Mom and sister.
We spent the weeekend with my Aunt Julie. I love her so much. And her boys, who are my new favorite cousins (Em, you're still my favorite - they're just my NEW favorites).
It was great - We went to the beach, with my Aunt Jules, and Uncle Mark, and their kids - Vic, Sam, Teddy, and Annie.
I love Annie, she's the cutest! We had such a great time, Chrissy and I played frisbee with Annie who's like 5! She was adorable!
After the beach we went back to Jules' for dinner, which was spectacular - my brother and Dad even joined us from Lollapalooza.
After Mark and his kids left we ended up going to Navy Pier to see fireworks and the "Tall Ships". I was really cranky - after a day of traveling, and the beach, and all that family excitement of seeing people we'd not seen for months, and craziness, to then jump back in the car to stand in a huge crowd of people... blah... but oh well.
The next day we went shopping - totally fun, only because I got a cute pair of shoes and my sister and I were getting along.
The final day we went shopping a little bit more and I ended up getting a couple pairs of jeans, they're the best pants in the entire world.
We met Jules and Sammy for lunch, which was good.
After lunch we drove back out of Chicago to Union Pier.
Mom got a cottage on Lake Michigan.
It's spectacular - it has 4 bedrooms with double beds, a kids room with a day bed, a wrap-around porch with like 4 couches, direct beach access, wireless high-speed internet, two TVs....
It's amazing.
The first night we all went down to the beach, none of us were hungry, just went running down to the beach. The water was so warm, and crashing waves, it was great!
We went out to dinner and stopped by the pharmacy to get food enough for the morning.
The next day Mom and I went for a walk along the beach, only to find the water freezing cold.
When we all went down to the beach we laid in the sun, hoping to get so hot that we would welcome the cold of the water, once Dad and David went in, though, Chrissy and I decided we'd just join them (cold or no cold). It was funny, we were all so numb we just stayed in the water, (me screaming like a seagull any time a wave it me). But we played catch and it was fun.
Today, however, the water is EVEN COLDER, and it's not windy, so lying on the beach is way too hot, but it's painfully cold in the water, so there's no happy medium, and there are flies because there's no wind... and everyone's a little angsty right now... We actually didn't have internet the first two days, but now today we have it, because a guy came out, so now Chrissy's being all anti-social, and I keep asking her to play a game with me or something, but she won't because she's checking her e-mail and reading her fan-fic, and all the other shit she can do when she's at home sitting on her ass all day, but instead she wants to do it on vacation and not play games with me in the living room.
Tonight David is going to get Eli.
I can't WAIT to see Eli! I love Eli.
