The changing of the roles is always hard. When children become the parental care-taking figure, and the parents become the care-receivers... it's hard. It's difficult to see your parents reduced to that, knowing how they used to be, wondering what they will and won't remember of the memories the family is making...

Whatever happens, don't forget that in order to survive the changes ahead with your sanity and emotional self intact, you have to take time for yourself. Happy Birthday to you (a few days late!)! I hope it was a wonderful day... with or without your mother's well-wishes!
Yes, that's exactly right about the memories and how I question if anything is sticking in their minds. I visit and don't know if either of them know I've been there! I hope your day is- was wonderful as well!!!!
