Columbus trip

This weekend was a good one. One of my good friends, Robbie, and I decided to make a trip up to Columbus to experience the city and hopefully enjoy ourselves. That we definitely did!

We left late Friday evening (I had to work at the theatre), stopping at IHOP for a late dinner and grabbing some snackage before hitting the road. We arrived at our friend Clay's place about 2am. Clay was our host for the weekend, having recently moved up there from Cincy. It was good to see him and hang out. We spent most of the evening chatting about exes, gay life, Cincy, Columbus and more. Before we knew it, it was close to 5am! We headed to bed, wanting an early start to the day Saturday.

We awoke Saturday and were out of the place about noon. We met Clay's roommate, Roy, and then got out to do lunch at a wonderful Italian restaurant Spageddies. Then we did some retail therapy. We hit Short North area, stopping at The Garden and its affiliate stores, the "new" Open Book location and Columbus Leather Company. I ended up being the only one buying things (including some camo pants) before we met up with another of Clay's friends Oscar pocochon. We went to Denise's outside of OU's campus for some great ice cream (not gelato! LOL) and just hanging out. Oscar is adorable and lots of fun. We finally went to dinner at a little hole-in-the-wall bar/diner called Victoria's. Very good food and interesting mixed crowd. The OSU game was on. After that, we parted ways with Oscar before heading off to get ready to go out that night.

We got showered and dressed and made our way over to WOOFs. I haven't been to its new location. When we arrived, it was a little dead, but slowly picked up. I ran into Phil cmhphil and his bf, Don. Also saw colsbearcub & djbear. It was a good time. Ran into others I knew, including another recent Cincy transplant David. It was good to get out there. We met Clay's other friends Daniel, Stan, and Stan's roommate Bob. We had a nice little group together chatting and such. However, the crowd quickly died down, so we made our way to Tradewinds. Much better crowd and lots of fun ensued. Danced all night with another friend, Tim, and had a decent time there, too. One note, though: Columbus is very cliquish. If you don't know anyone, you're pretty much on your own. Most people talk only to the people in their groups and that's it. Rarely do they break free of that. Just a note....

We got home late and almost immediately crashed. Woke up Sunday and Roy made us breakfast. Very thoughtful of him. We lounged around and watched TV for a while (they had LOGO!) before grabbing a late lunch/dinner at Union Station with Stan. Then Robbie and I said goodbye to Clay and Stan and hit the road. We made it back just as the sun was setting. A great ending to a pretty great weekend!

Hope everyone is doing good!
