I admit, I'm of two minds on this episode. I was absolutely thrilled with the concept when I heard they were going to do it, but of course SO much of what makes Rocky ROCKY has to be excised for television (although... I think the Simpsons and Family Guy get away with a whole lot more.) For example, "Toucha Toucha Toucha Touch Me" -- Overall, it was absolutely hilarious. I mean, Emma stripping Will, Brittany and Santana singing in the window of the classroom. But it really BUGGED me that they changed the lyrics. I know someone not familiar with Rocky wouldn't notice, and the lyrics were... a little "racy" but... it through me out of the scene (mostly because it screwed up my singing along.) It bugged me that Mercedes was Frank. It's just wrong not to cast a male transvestite, I'm sorry. And her voice was WRONG WRONG WRONG for the role as much as her look. And "Sensational Transylvania" ARGH. That bugged me (probably because that's my favorite line in the movie). But Kurt as Riff Raff (I was so happy he was all, "Hello, Gay, Tranvestite, not the same thing! -- paraphrasing, of course), Santana as Magenta (SQUEEEEE!), and Brittany as Columbia were awesome. John Stamos surprised me with his performance, and Becky's Sue Sylvester costume cracked me up. And of course, seeing Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf was a geeky joy. If only they could have gotten Tim Curry (which of course, would once again point to the WRONG WRONG WRONGNESS of Mercedes as Frankenfurter)! The new kid was a PERFECT Rocky (and Will's whole teenaged boy behavior regarding Emma and playing that role to impress her was hilarious and pathetic).
So overall, it was a really cute idea and a funny episode, but as a Rocky tribute, it bugged me in a lot of ways. I'm a geek who spent more Saturday nights than I can remember count. It used to be so awesome to get dressed up and scream and yell and throw stuff, then go out with a dozen people to IHOP at 3 am. Good times. Which is part of what made me so happy when John Stamos did "Whatever Happened to Saturday Night". So overall, I do have to say the Glee thing was fun. (I'm so ambivalent.)
Oh! I almost forgot -- Brittany's brilliance of the week:
Kurt: So what are you going as for Halloween?

Frickin 9 year old Maw Maw KILLED ME. When she chased down and beat the shit out of the kid who stole her candy? BWAH. That last bitch was so MEAN. Come on, MawMaw is obviously addled, just give her some fucking candy. She totally deserved to be TP'ed. Fuck that cop too. Speaking of that TP job, it was a BEAUTY.
And the guys ate all the baby food as dip? Hee hee. OMG "Chew it up and spit it into her mouth, bird style." Idiots.

It was frickin hilarious when the grocery store chick just rolled over and yacked on the floor during the touching denouement.
