I am going to attempt to make baklava tonight for the first time. If it doesn't turn out right, I just may have to resort to harassing the occupants of the first Greek household I come to (there is a pretty big Greek population here, so I won't have to look too hard) until they bribe me to leave with a big tray of baklava and maybe some souvlaki for good measure. :-)
This is the recipe I am using. If anyone has a better one, I would love to see it.
1 lb Walnuts - Finely Chopped
1/2 C. Sugar
2 tsp Cinnamon
1.5 C. Butter (3 sticks), Melted
1 Package Frozen Phyllo Dough (16 oz) Thawed
1 C. Sugar
1 C. Water
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
1 C. Honey (Net weight 12 oz.)
1/2 tsp Vanilla
I am going to increase the amount of cinnamon and maybe add some clove.
